James “Worldwide” Watson is the proud owner of a gold medal! Team USA just won the gold, silver and bronze medals at the 2022 16th annual Black Bass World Championship in Columbia, South Carolina on Lake Murray. Watson and his partner, Fred “Boom Boom” Roumbanis led the way for Team USA. James Watson is no stranger to gold, he has a medal from the 2018 tournament in Mexico, as well. Watson, a successful Major League Fishing pro is looking forward to bass fishing becoming an Olympic sport. We hope it does! Give “Worldwide” Watson a listen. He does an excellent interview.

Bassmaster Elite pro Keith Combs just won the St. Croix Bassmaster Central Open at Sam Rayburn in Texas. More importantly, the victory earned Keith Combs a berth in the 2023 Bassmaster Classic on the Tennessee River at Knoxville, Tennessee. Congratulations, Keith!

Boyd Duckett is the man who created the concept of Major League Fishing, the incredibly successful bass tournament fishing circuit that has taken the fishing world by storm. He is active in the day-to-day management of MLF and is responsible for many of the groundbreaking concepts that MLF has introduced to tournament fishing. Not only does Boyd Duckett manage this circuit, he competes in it, as well. An accomplished pro, Boyd Duckett won the 2007 Bassmaster Classic in his first full year on the tour. Amazing! Jason Fischer is the Tournament Director for the Lake Erie Walleye Trail. Jason was at the center of a cheating controversy that put fishing on the front page of major newspapers, as well as being on network television and radio. The LEWT cheating scandal also completely blew up social media, too. Listen to Jason Fischer tell the story of how he discovered that a pair of formerly successful walleye fishermen loaded their caught walleyes with lead weights and fish filets, trying to pull a fast one on the entire fishing world. You can’t put one past Jason Fischer! He also did a great job of keeping order at the weigh-in, as many spectators thought the pair of cheaters were going to be tarred and feathered or possibly hung from the highest nearby tree. It’s a story we hope will never be repeated but hats off to Jason Fischer.

Jay Yelas has fished his way to two FLW Tour Angler of the Year awards and one B.A.S.S. AOY. He won a Bassmaster Classic title in 2002. Jay, one of the truly good guys in the sport, has announced his retirement from competitive tournament fishing. He will be filling his time by leading the C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation, which serves disabled and disadvantaged youth, urban youth and members of the U.S. military.
